My Hero

Day 64

Breakfast: green tea, 4 egg whites w/half an onion and ketchup
Mid-afternoon snack: NONE
Lunch: chicken stir-fry
Dinner: Romaine and spinach salad with feta cheese and grape tomatoes
Dessert: apple turnover yogurt

Today marks an important day for 3 reasons:

  1. It's Monday, which makes it weigh-in day. Despite my fears of not having lost any weight (or possibly even gaining weight) I actually lost 6.8 pounds! That's the biggest number I've gotten since week 1, so I was ecstatic when I got off the scale. Braylen and I pretty much did a happy dance together. ha. He also lost a good deal this week, but I'm not sure if he ever did weigh-in after he slept this afternoon. Anyways, it was a great start to what will [probably] be a very stressful week (two midterms on Thursday = not a happy camper).
  2. Today Braylen and I have been married for 10 months. Which is exciting if only for the fact that in two more months we will have been married a year! I can't believe it's already almost a year, and yet, it feels like the wedding was so long ago. I just love marriage. Really, it's the only way to go.
  3. Last, but most importantly... Eleven years ago today Braylen sustained a traumatic brain injury. Because it is his story, I will refer you to his blog, where he posted the entire saga this afternoon. Despite the fact that a life-threatening accident happened all those years ago, he annually celebrates this day. It makes me realize just how much we need to celebrate what may seem like set-backs in life, because we never know where they may lead us. God never throws anything at us that we can't handle, and I feel so blessed to have married a man that realizes how fortunate we are to have each day. He is the strongest and most encouraging and inspiring person that I have ever known, and I am so excited to share my life with him!
All that aside, today was pretty normal. He has to work so we weren't able to spend time together past 11AM today. I will be so happy when he is not working nights anymore! Although, it is nice to be woken up every morning by him coming home to me. Especially this morning... he'd made a slideshow for me to celebrate #'s 2 and 3 above, and I can't wait to watch it again because it's one of the sweetest things he's ever done for me (and those of you who know how he proposed know that that's saying a lot)!

I feel like this post needs a picture, and this one seems appropriate:

My protector, my hero, my best friend, my partner, my inspiration, my husband.

Dear God, thank you so much for providing me with everything I could ever hope for. Please forgive me for ever taking one moment for granted. Amen.

  1. Eleven years ago I couldn't imagine what God's plan was in all of this. What was he thinking?! When all the while it was so Braylen could meet a red-haired girl and marry her. God always has a plan and He knows exactly what we need.
