If you’ve taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you’re new, please take a moment to answer this week’s question on your own blog then add your link in the comments section at: www.alltheweigh.com so we can all see your FMM questions and answers. Please invite your blog readers to add their links there too so everyone has to opportunity to be seen. The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to post your own FMM post and comment on a couple of other posts. Now it’s time for this week’s topic!

Friend Makin’ Mondays: Trigger Foods

  1. Are there foods in your life that always seem to trigger overeating?  Yes!
  2. If so, what are they?  Basically anytime we go out to eat... and most definitely fast food (which we avoid altogether).
  3. When are you most likely to give into strong cravings? On BDR's days off when I feel like we "deserve" a night off.
  4. Are you more likely to be triggered by salty foods or sugary foods?  Hm... Either. I don't go for one over another, I don't think. I'm an equal-opportunity over-eater.
  5. How do you get back on track after overeating?  I set a new start date in my mind, make sure I have healthy foods at home to prepare, and decide what exercise I will do.
  6. Are there any foods that you allow yourself to eat without limits?  Carrots. Carrots I can eat the heck out of and not feel bad about.
  7. Do you notice a change in your emotions while eating trigger foods? It usually makes me feel crabby and unhappy w/myself... Crazy that I still want to eat them. Not sure what that says about me... Masochist maybe?
  8. Do you have a strategy to keep yourself from overeating trigger foods? Avoid fast food. Cook meals ahead of time so we're not tempted to go out to eat on his nights off. Plan to try out a few new recipes that look really yummy.
Now it’s your turn to answer this week’s questions!  Don’t forget to go back to Kenlie's page and link up in the comments!  Happy Monday!

  2. Stopping by from Friend Makin' Monday! Congratulations on your ability to avoid fast food-my hubby and I are AWFUL at stopping for food on the way home-it doesn't matter what we have waiting for us!

    1. Thanks for stopping by! It's definitely tough, but avoiding restaurants is what's really hard for us. We really like having date nights (no children yet, so we have the opportunity to go out a lot) and it's just easy to do dinner/movie. Lately we've been trying to find more active things to do together... Hiking and going to classes at the gym and such. Baby steps!

  3. Stopping by from FMM! :) Your progress pics are outstanding! WTG!
Planning our menu and buying groceries ahead of time really helps us avoid fast food too. It's when we're out of food and are tired that we go to convenience and that's not helping my weight!

    1. Thanks for coming by (and for the compliment about the pictures)!! We also buy ahead of time... It makes the temptation seem so much less. Especially because we're both still in school and money for food isn't in abundance, ha. So it's either buy groceries for the next 2 weeks w/his paycheck, or decide not to and go out to eat. Because both can't happen on one paycheck. Sigh...

  4. Also visiting from FMM! What an awesome blog you have here! Congrats on your success thus far! I am glad I found you!

I totally agree about eating out! My boyfriends family LOVES to eat out, and I mean like every day eating out. It's so hard and it's even harder that he was raised with that mindset and I came from an eat at home family.

    1. Thank you for visiting, Sabrina! I'm excited to follow Coffee With Sabrina!! =]

In my family, growing up, we did a little of both. We ate at home a lot, but we also took every opportunity to go out to eat (for celebrations and special days). So, in my mind, going out to eat is a special way to bond with people you love... and although that may be totally true... I'm not very wise when I make decisions at restaurants, ha. I need to break that habit and then maybe eating out won't be such a no-no!

Hope to see you back here again!

  5. Stopping by from FMM! I enjoyed reading your answers. I wonder the same thing, it's crazy that we eat what we know is bad for us even when it makes us feel bad. It seems so simple yet it's so hard...

    1. You're exactly right... So so hard. I don't know why, even when the foods that are bad for me upset my stomach and make me feel mentally/physically gross... They're the things I want the most. The mind is a confusing thing, that's for sure.

Thanks for stopping by, Nanci! I look forward to following you!
